M.Sc. (Medical Technology) - Philosophy
The Master of Science in Medical Technology programme (International Programme) is to encourage those medical technologists who require progressing their academic knowledge and new technology in the fields of medical technology, general and medical sciences in order to solve the public health problems and improve quality of life of the people.
- Objectives
The goals of M.Sc. in Medical Technology are to encourage the students for admiring knowledge achievement, self-study and research in the broad areas of medical and biological sciences. The faculty has a broad spectrum of expertise and provides training opportunities in a wide range of disciplines. These include hematology, clinical microbiology, virology, immunology, clinical biochemistry, host-parasite interactions, free radicals in biology, regulation of gene expression, molecular biology, medical laboratory equipment and imaging technology.
Graduates from this programme should be able to :1. apply the given knowledge and technology to improve and develope their achievement in medical technology and related sciences,
2. organize the preventive plan and problems solving for both scientific and administrative management concerning clinical laboratory services,
3. search and create research works in order to develop better clinical laboratory services,
4. transfer and exchange the academic knowledge and skills in medical technology and related sciences with others.
- Research projects
Research in the M.Sc. Programme (International) is aimed for the finding and innovation of new knowledge and technology for the application in medical technology and other related fields. These researches includes :

- Molecular Informatics for Rational Design and Simulation of Biological and Chemical Entities
- Artificial Oxygen-Carrying Units : Potential Tools for Blood Substitution
- Development of Antioxidants and Free Radical Research in Life Sciences
- Infectious Diseases and Antibiotic Resistance
- Molecular Genetics of Human Diseases and Cell Growth Molecular Genetics of Human Diseases and Cell Growth
- Data mining and Biomedical Informatics
- Biosensor for Diagnostic and Medical Applications
- Medical Imaging and Pattern Recognition Analysis
- Area-based and Integrative Research for Well-Being and Sustainable Development of the Society
- Curricula
The curriculum structures are apecified as Plan A (1) and Plan A (2). Plan A (1) is the curriculum for M.Sc. by research work only, whereas both course work and research work are required for Plan A (2).

(*) The student has to participate with no credits in the course MTID 602 Seminar and other courses according to the suggestion of advisor.
English is used as the medium in all activities ie: examinations, thesis writing and defending.

- Graduation Requirements
1. Plan A (1) Students must :
1.1. pass qualifying examination, proposal examination,
1.2. complete the thesis research and pass the oral thesis examination,
1.3. have at least one research publication.
2. Plan A (2) Students must :2.1 take not less than 24 credits of course work and 12 credits of thesis, total credit for the programme not less than 36 credits, with G.P.A. is not less than 3.00,
2.2 pass the English Proficiency Examination offered by the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University, or other qualified institutes, or have a TOEFL score more than 173/500,
2.3 complete the thesis research and pass oral thesis examination.
