Under such collaborations, PhD candidates have the opportunity to spend at least one year abroad at partnering institutes. More than fifty PhD scholars have graduated from the program to serve vital roles in academia and industries both domestically and overseas.

    Revolutionizing the Undergraduate Curriculum

To produce well-rounded medical technologists, curriculum of the Bachelor degree program has been revolutionized by utilizing competency-based learning to improve the quality and standard of education. The competency-based education (CBE) is a learning and teaching method that encourages active student involvement and promotes “learning to learn” for lifelong learning. Such endeavors have been made possible through collaboration with the Department of Industrial Technology and Education, Utah State University, U.S.A. for the exchange of tools and information process under the expertise supervision of Fulbright Scholar Prof. Dr. Edward M. Reeve.

    International Laboratory Standardization

To develop international Laboratory standardization and quality improvement, the Faculty has linked the EQA program with external quality assessment schemes from various global regions such as Institute of Standardization and Documentation in the Medical Laboratory (Federal Republic of Germany), United Kingdom National External Quality Assessment Scheme in Biochemistry (United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland) and Blood Lead for Proficiency Testing, Center for Disease Control, Wisconsin State Hygiene Laboratory, USA. EQA programs have also joined to The Asian Network of Clinical Laboratory Standardization and Harmonization in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology and Coagulation, which compose of more than 60 laboratories from 11 countries in Asia.

    Outreach

Moreover, the Faculty has also provided supports and strengthens area of medical laboratory sciences and radiological technology to the neighboring countries in the Asian region such as Laos, Cambodia, Korea, and Bhutan. Training courses have been provided by the financial support of the World Health Organization (WHO) and other supportive agencies. The training courses include Laboratory instruments, Quality management in clinical laboratory, Diagnostic parasitology, Cytology, Clinical bacteriology, Clinical microscopy, Clinical chemistry, Molecular biological technique, Immunodiagnosis and Medical Imaging.
